Montpellier announced today that they are appealing the seven-match suspension given to their Bosnian centre-back Emir Spahic.
Spahic was banned by the French Football Federation (FFF) for elbowing opposition striker Issam Jemaa during Montpellier's 4-1 defeat at home to Lens on 19 March.
The FFF's appeals committee will study Spahic's case on 21 April, two days before Montpellier meet holders Marseille in the French League Cup final at Stade de France.
Spahic has already missed two matches and will be unable to play in Montpellier's league game at home to Marseille on Sunday.
Should his ban be upheld, he will not be available for selection until Montpellier face Lorient in Ligue 1 on 11 May.
