Valbuena injury blow for Marseille

Marseille striker Mathieu Valbuena is facing six weeks on the sidelines after injuring his left knee today, the reigning French champions reported.

The France international, who suffered the injury in training, scored the winning goal in France's 2-1 friendly win over England at Wembley in November.

His absence could open the door for Loic Remy to return to coach Didier Deschamps' first team calculations. Marseille, whose next league run out is at Monaco on 30 January, are fifth, six points behind leaders Lille.
