Sunderland completed the signing of France U-20 international El-Hadji Ba from Le Havre.
Ba agreed a three-year contract with the Black Cats and becomes the seventh player to join Paolo Di Canio's team since the end of the 2012/13 Premier League campaign.
"Sunderland AFC have confirmed that French starlet El Hadji Ba has joined the club," a statement on the club's website announced.
Ba has already joined up with his new team-mates at their training camp in Italy and follows Valentin Roberge, Modibo Diakite, Jozy Altidore, David Moberg Karlsson, Cabral and Duncan Watmore into the club during a busy close-season for boss Di Canio.
That list of newcomers could be boosted further within the next 24 hours after Argentinian club Velez Sarsfield confirmed defender Gino Peruzzi will head to England this week with a view to completing his move to the Stadium of Light.
