Italy international midfielder Alessandro Diamanti has agreed terms to move to Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande, his Serie A club Bologna confirmed Friday. Talks between both clubs have been ongoing for some time, with Guangzhou coach Marcello Lippi playing a leading role in luring Diamanti to the Chinese Super League side.
Guangzhou released a statement about the transfer in the early hours of Friday morning and Bologna later confirmed the move on their official website.
"Bologna has reached agreement with Guangzhou Evergrande F.C. for the permanent transfer of Alessandro Diamanti," read the statement.
Diamanti, who has spent two and a half years with the 'Rossoblu', is believed to have signed a three-year agreement with Guangzhou worth up to €8m to the Italian club. The 30-year-old attacking midfielder has been capped 17 times by Italy.
