Cruzeiro claimed a 3-0 win over Santos in the Brazilian Campeonato on Sunday which took them to the top of the league standings.
Marcelo Martins (25), Ricardo Goulart (48) and Julio Baptista (88) scored the goals in the win which put Cruzeiro two points clear of second-placed Internacional.
Figueirense drew 2-2 against Atletico Mineiro thanks to Clayton Cleitinho's 90th minute equaliser.
Atletico had taken the lead in the eighth minute through Jesus Datolo before the lead was cancelled out by Leonardo Silva's 25th minute own goal.
Diego Tardelli edged Mineiro ahead from the penalty spot in the 74th minute before Cleitinho salvaged a point.
Meanwhile, Gremio claimed a 2-0 win over Criciuma thanks to Luan's 11th minute penalty before Lucas Coelho sealed the win in the 49th.
Sao Paulo took a 2-1 win over Palmeiras thanks to Alexandre Pato (54) and Junior Alan Kardec (89), with Jose Henrique's 61st minute penalty not enough for the home side.
Elsewhere, Daniel Correa and Pablo Zeballos scored as Botofogo defeated Fluminense 2-0 while Sport Recife and Atletico Paranaense drew 1-1 after Salmazzo Regis (40) cancelled out Cleberson Martins de Souza's 25th minute goal.
In the other games, Flamengo defeated Coritiba 1-0 thanks to Everton's 17th minute goal, as the home side ended the game with 10 men after Signorini Robinho was sent off in the 82nd minute, while Vitoria drew 0-0 with Chapecoense.
