Cruzeiro maintained their six-point lead atop the Brazilian Serie A following a 5-0 victory over Figueirense. The league leaders never looked like they would be troubled against third-bottom Figueirense, who did at least provide some resistance before they fell behind to Lucas Silva's 41st-minute penalty.
The floogates opened in the second half, though, as Marquinhos and Dede both scored within five minutes of the resumption, while further goals from Ricardo Goulart (72) and Dagoberto (79) sealed a comfortable win for Cruzeiro.
Wellington Silva's 66th-minute strike helped Internacional stay within six points of Cruzeiro after a 1-0 win at Bahia. Goals from Rildo (13) ,Gabriel Barbosa (52) and Diego Cardoso saw Santos remain two points behind Internacional in third following a 3-0 win over Chapecoense.
Correa Caio scored twice as Vitoria claimed a 3-1 victory at Criciuma. Caio opened the scoring in the 19th minute, with Vitoria benefiting from Sergio Escudero being red carded for Criciuma shortly afterwards, as second-half goals from Caio and Luiz Ayrton sealed a comfortable win and meant Serginho's 90th-minute effort was mere consolation.
