Cruzeiro have held on to top spot in the Campeonato with a 3-1 win over Vitoria at the Estadio Mineirao on Thursday.
Rafael Berger Alemao put into his own net just after the hour-mark to nudge the league leaders in front, before strikes from Ricardo Goulart and Everton Ribeiro put the result beyond doubt.
Ayrton pulled one back for Vitoria in the dying stages, but it was just a consolation as Cruzeiro maintain their three-point lead at the top of the table.
But Corinthians, along with Sao Paulo, are still lurking behind them waiting to pounce on any mistakes after their 2-1 triumph over Internacional.
Paolo Guerrero and Conserva Fagner gave the hosts a 2-0 lead after 10 minutes, before Internacional pulled one back in second-half stoppage time through Claudio Winck.
Santos moved into fifth with a 2-0 win over Palmeiras thanks to goals from Bruno Uvini and Alison either side of half time.
