Fluminense have sacked coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo as the defending champions look to escape the relegation zone with just five matches remaining in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
The former Brazil coach only took charge of the Rio de Janeiro club in July following the dismissal of Abel Braga, but he has failed to turn around their fortunes.
A 1-0 defeat to Corinthians on Sunday took their winless run to nine matches with Fluminense third from bottom, and Luxemburgo has now paid the price for their miserable form.
A statement on the club's official website read: "On the decision of club president Peter Siemsen, coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo will not continue in his role as coach of Fluminense.
"Fluminense appreciates the efforts of the coach and his coaching staff."
