River Plate flew out of the blocks to record their second win of the young Apertura season with a 4-0 rout of Godoy Cruz away from home on Sunday.
Carlos Sanchez opened the scoring in just the second minute and Teofilo Gutierrez added a second moments later. It was all but over as a contest once Rodrigo Mora had added a third in the 16th minute, with Gutierrez rounding it off with his second in the 63rd minute. Godoy Cruz's misery was completed when Guillermo Cosaro was sent off 10 minutes from time.
It was a different story for River's main rivals as Boca Juniors slumped to a 3-0 home defeat against Atletico Rafaela. Mauricio Gomez got the first in the 36th minute before Federico Gonzalez added a second 10 minutes into the second half and Guillermo Fernandez rounded it off in the 73rd minute - moments after coming on as a substitute.
Victor Ayala's brace gave Lanus a 2-1 win over Estudiantes. Ayala's 19th minute opener was cancelled out by Joaquin Correa early in the second half but he struck again in the 68th minute to win it.
Second-half goals from Salcedo Gonzalez and Cazares Sevillano gave Banfield a 2-0 away win over San Lorenzo.
Defensa y Justicia and Quilmes shared the points in a 1-1 draw with both goals coming early, and both sides finishing with 10 men. Washington Camacho put Defensa y Justicia ahead after 11 minutes, but it was soon cancelled out by Brian Sarmiento seven minutes later. Quilmes then had Santiago Martinez sent off in the 74th minute before Brian Fernandez followed in stoppage time.
