Estudiantes moved up to second in the Argentinian Clausura with a 2-0 win at title rivals Colon Santa Fe, whose loss was compounded by finishing the match with ten men. The hosts could have moved level on points with leaders Gimnasia La Plata with victory but it was Estudiantes who opened the scoring two minutes before half-time through Franco Jara.
Santa Fe's chances of getting back into the encounter were dealt a blow with the 51st-minute dismissal of Gerardo Alcoba and Guido Carrillo's penalty shortly afterwards gave all three points to the visitors, who moved above their opponents and one point behind La Plata.
Godoy Cruz were denied the chance to go top of the standings after Facundo Cardozo struck ten minutes from time to give nine-man Velez Sarsfield a 1-1 draw. Jose Luis Fernandez scored in the tenth minute to put Godoy in charge and their hopes of victory increased when Velez defender Fabian Cubero saw red shortly after half-time. But Velez drew level in the 80th minute through Cardozo and held on to thwart Godoy despite substitute Roberto Nanni also being shown a red card.
San Lorenzo moved up to fifth in the table after goals from Leandro Navarro and Facundo Quignon gave them a 2-0 win over struggling Atletico Rafaela, who had Ignacio Pussetto sent off late on, while Rosario Central and Olimpo finished in a goalless draw.
