Bolivian side Bolivar have reached the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals after a 1-1 home draw against Mexican outfit Leon earned them victory on away goals. It meant the tie finished level at 3-3, dumping Leon out of the competition.

Leon made a fifth-minute breakthrough as forward Franco Arizala deftly headed home defender Fernando Navarro's cross from the right, spurring Bolivar to throw men forward in pursuit of an equaliser but a series of long-range attempts from strikers William Ferreira nor Juan Arce were sufficiently accurate.

Bolivar found a leveller in the 36th minute when Ronald Eguino bundled in from close range after a flick-on by William Ferreira. Leon had Rafael Marquez sent off in the 77th minute to dent their prospects of finding a late winner.

Man of the match Ferreira said: "I am proud, I felt an immense happiness. We showed that our dreams are intact and we are going to continue the fight. We never lower the arms in the face of adversity and gave our best. When it is not possible to play well, it is necessary to fight, the Copa Libertadores is like that."
