Ulrike Folkerts

Actor

My passion for football:
A keen and talented amateur athlete (a silver and bronze swimming relay winner for Berlin club Vorspiel at the 2002 Gay Games in Sydney), she is especially thrilled by the success of the German women’s football team.

I’m looking forward to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011 because... “this stage, with its audience of millions, features women in the lead roles, earning a high and widespread degree of popular recognition for their skill, triumphs and convincing performances."

Career highlights: First of more than 40 episodes of Tatort (Crime Scene) in 1989. Received audience Bambi in 2002 as best-loved actor in the Commissioner role. Published autobiography Das macht mich stark in 2005. First woman to play Death in Salzburg production of Jedermann (Everyman) in 2005 and 2006. Awarded the Federal Cross of Merit with Ribbon in 2007 in recognition of her charity work with Burundikids e.V. and Aktionsbündnis Landmine (Landmine Action Group).
