One year after successfully hosting the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2016, Jordan has taken another step towards the staging of another major female showpiece. Today, the draw took place for the 2018 AFC Women's Asian Cup, which will offer five spots at the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™.
A few months before the start of the tournament, the eight participating teams now know their road towards the title and the chance to play in France 2019.
The draw for the eight-team competition, which will be held in Amman from 6 to 20 April 2018, was held in a ceremony at the Dead Sea in which the tournament's official logo was also unveiled.

Hosts Jordan were place in Group A with China PR, Thailand and the Philippines while defending champions and FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 runners-up Japan landed in Group B with Australia, Korea Republic and Vietnam.
The winners and runners-up of each group will advance to the semi-finals of the competition and qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019. The third-placed teams in each group will then face each other in a play-off for the fifth and final Asian berth at France 2019.
