World champions Japan stayed on course for their maiden AFC Women's Asian Cup title with a one-sided 4-0 win over hosts Vietnam.

Midfielder Nahomi Kawasumi struck twice, and Nanase Kiryu and Yuki Ogimi also scored in Ho Chi Minh City as Japan's Nadeshiko earned their first win of the competition.

In Friday's other game, defending champions Australia beat Jordan 3-1 as they also gained their first victory after drawing 2-2 with Japan on the opening night.

Japan's Nadeshiko won the FIFA Women's World Cup Germany 2011™ and the Olympic silver medal in 2012, but they are yet to win the Women's Asian Cup, claimed by Australia's Matildas in 2010.

After two games, Japan with four points top Group A on goal difference ahead of Australia, with Vietnam one point behind after beating Jordan 3-1 on the opening night.
