The first joint FIFA and OC marketing workshop staged on Thursday at the FIFA Women's World Cup Stadium Frankfurt was another important milestone on the road to the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. FIFA Marketing Director Thierry Weil, FIFA Head of Women's Competitions Tatjana Haenni, DFB General Secretary Wolfgang Niersbach and OC President Steffi Jones were among those attending the event in the Frankfurt Arena Business Lounge, along with representatives of FIFA Partners adidas, Coca-Cola, Emirates, Hyundai-Kia Motors, Sony and Visa, and National Supporters Commerzbank and Deutsche Telekom.
The stadium in Frankfurt was a deliberate choice for the kick-off event, as it is the venue for the final of the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2011. A programme of films, presentations and round-table discussions set the tone for a productive brainstorming session to devise creative marketing ideas, aimed at ensuring the tournament from 26 June to 17 July 2011 is a roaring success.
After the opening formalities at 10am, the workshop started with a detailed overview of progress to date and planned activities in the run-up to the FIFA Women's World Cup. The OC status report included information regarding host cities, stadiums, key contact personnel, communication concepts and proposed social programmes.
"FIFA Partners and National Supporters are key actors on the road to the FIFA Women's World Cup, as both will help us to create a sense of anticipation in Germany and abroad. The workshop has been a great tool to get to know each other better and discuss prospective marketing platforms", said OC president Steffi Jones.
