Japanese international Saki Kumagai helped Lyon win the French Ligue 1 women's title for an eighth consecutive time.

It was the first Ligue 1 title for Kumagai, who joined the French club this season and is just one of three overseas players with the southeastern side. Kumagai played in Saturday's 5-1 victory at Brittany outfit Guingamp.

The champions had needed just one point to seal the title but with one match left to play, have a seven-point advantage on Paris Saint-Germain, who had been bidding to win the women's crown for the first time.

Lyon, now 11-time French champions, will be bidding for the double when they play PSG in the women's French Cup final in two weeks' time.

The 2011 and 2012 European champions were eliminated in the last-16 of this year's UEFA Champions League.
