A bird has been chosen as the Official Mascot for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Colombia 2011.

The mascot, called "Bambuco el Guacamayo", was chosen ahead of a selection of others after receiving over 75,000 votes.

It represents the famous Guacamaya Roja species, which is one of South America’s most popular birds. Its feathers, in a different order, show the colours of the Colombian national flag.

The Official Mascot’s friendly smile and sportive gesture reflect the country’s cheerfulness and the tournament’s high profile.
