Teams advised on security situation

In response to the recent demonstrations in Turkey which have received widespread media coverage, FIFA has issued a circular letter to the teams participating in the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2013 regarding the current situation and have made assurances that the tournament will go ahead according to plan.

The letter underlines that FIFA's security department and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) are in close co-operation with government officials and have received reassurances from the Turkish authorities about the security situation. The Turkish Police Forces have informed the LOC that necessary precautions are in place and that the host stadiums, team hotels and training facilities are not under threat. The Police Forces also confirmed that none of the competition venues, team hotels and training facilities are at risk.

FIFA and LOC officials will brief national team representatives at forthcoming meetings on the security measures put in place to ensure the safety of the tournament.
