• Venezuela finish top of Group B
  • Sergio Cordova scores fourth goal at Korea Republic 2017
  • Mexico qualify for Round of 16

Venezuela edged Mexico 1-0 at the Suwon World Cup Stadium to finish top of Group B at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic 2017.

Sergio Cordova once again got on the scoresheet in Korea Republic, his fourth of the tournament. In the 33rd minute, a clever through ball from Adalberto Penaranda found Cordova, who shook off his defender, dribbled past goalkeeper Abraham Romero and slotted the ball home past a sliding defender.

Mexico pushed for the equaliser but for the third consecutive match, coach Rafael Dudamel's men kept a clean sheet and held on for all three points.

Mexico still ensured their qualification to the Round of 16 with the result, despite Germany's 3-2 win over Vanuatu, due to having a superior goal difference.
