Rogerio Micale, Brazil coach
We knew it was going to be tough and that’s how it turned out. We were tired after playing extra-time against Uruguay, and we suffered a bit. Everyone saw what happened, but in the end we were able to celebrate in the penalty shootout. Portugal created more in front of goal than we did and deserved to win today. They were better than us but, that being said, I don’t think anyone can say that we didn’t deserve to go through. Though we haven’t had much time to work together, we’ve still been able to push on and reach the last four, which shows the quality of Brazilian football.

Helio Sousa, Portugal coach
We didn’t manage to finish off everything we created. We stamped our authority on the game, we were better in every area but we just couldn’t score. It’s a shame to lose on penalties but it’s been a great experience for these players, who deserved to keep on playing and showing what they can do as individuals and as a team. This is tough, but it will help them to be stronger in the future and to raise the quality of Portuguese football.
