A late Jese Rodriguez goal has seen FIFA U-20 World Cup favourites Spain into the quarter-finals at the expense of Mexico.
The North Americans had led for 72 minutes after Arturo Gonzalez scored early on, but goals from Real Madrid duo Derik and Jese saw them complete the turnaround.
It was a stunning start for Mexico, coming from the left foot of Gonzalez just two minutes after kick-off. An early cross from the right flank by Raul Lopez found Gonzalez peeling away at the back post, and his volley into the roof of the net was emphatic as the UEFA U-19 European champions were behind for the first time in Turkey.
Spain instantly went about dominating possession in search of an equaliser, but El Mini-Tri set up a near impenetrable wall of green shirts. They almost struck with a quick counter too, Jesus Corona picking out Lopez at the far post, but his header was wayward.
The pattern repeated itself as Spain could only muster occasional shots from distance before Jorge Espericueta thumped the crossbar just after the half hour-mark, before Daniel Sotres saved well to deny Corona.
In a battle pitting together two continental champions, the CONCACAF side were certainly executing their game-plan the better, proving hard to coax open for their European counterparts. Corona had another chance with a final counter-attack before the break, carrying the ball some distance before striking narrowly wide from 25 yards.
Jose Campana went the closest Spain had come just after the break, shooting from the edge of the area, forcing Richard Sanchez into a save, while they got even closer two minutes later when Jese unlocked the Mexican defence for Paco Alcacer to force another stop from the keeper.
It was a much more vibrant Spain that had emerged from the dressing room and Gerard Deulofeu was the next to test Sanchez after neat skill on the left wing. However, Mexico were not at all out of it, with a neat one-two on the edge of the Spanish box releasing Corona, but his effort could only sting the palms of Sotres.
However, Spain's two Premier League substitutes in Suso and Denis Suarez combined to bring them level, as the former's corner was flicked-on by the latter, with Derik on hand to nod home. The England-based pair combined again as Suarez forced Sanchez struck the post. The keeper then denied Alcacer with a superb save as full-time drew in.
Seconds later though Jese had a winner, creating space for himself well before firing a shot from the edge of the area, deflecting off Abel Fuentes to secure a quarter-final spot at the expense of a heart-broken Mexico.
