Ronald Gonzalez, Costa Rica coach: “We had many chances, especially after we pulled one back. We had a really good spell and we unlucky. We're disappointed because we put up a strong fight against a very good team. I don't want to talk about individual mistakes. We're a squad, if something goes wrong it's everyone's fault. For us the World starts next game. We know we have to win and that's what we're focused on.”

Julen Lopetegui, Spain coach: “We knew Costa Rica were going to be very compact. I thought they played very well, but they didn't take their chances after the goal and when they made a couple of mistakes, we were able to punish them. We wanted to have killed off the game earlier. We let them back into the game, but we took our chances at the end. We wanted to play a bit better, and I think we can do better in the next match. But we've won and that's the main thing.”
