How do I apply?
The appliction phase ended on the 28th of February 2010.
What is the minimum age for working as a volunteer?
You have to be 18 on 1 June before the tournament. Volunteers for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup 2010 must have been born before 1 June 1992.
Are there requirements I have to fulfil?
Yes, there are minimum requirements. Volunteers must be 18 at the time of the tournament. You also need a good command of German, and basic knowledge of English.
Do I need previous experience?
Previous experience isn't required, although we'd obviously be delighted if you have experience from a similar event and/or voluntary work, and wish to use that again now.
What are the areas of responsibility?
As a volunteer, you can support the Organising Committee in one of 12 different areas of responsibility. You'll find a list and brief descriptions of the assignments on offer under "Areas of responsibility".
How does the selection process work?
We'll be inviting candidates to personal interviews between March and April 2010. Volunteers will be selected based on their applications and interviews.
Is there any advantage to applying early?
No, the date you submit your application will have no bearing on the final choice of volunteers. However, candidates who work as volunteers for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup 2010 will naturally have a minor advantage when it comes to selecting volunteers for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011.
When will I find out whether I've been accepted as a volunteer?
Recruitment for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup 2010 will be completed in May 2010. We'll contact you by then and let you know if you've been accepted.
Will I be insured?
Yes, all volunteers are insured during assignments, and while travelling to and from their assignments.
Will I be paid?
No, volunteers are unpaid. By way of thanks and recognition, you'll receive the following from the Organising Committee:
- Volunteer uniform
- Catering on working days
- Free public transportation to and from your place of work
- Volunteer certificate
- Volunteer leisure and supporting programme
However, the greatest reward for your work as a volunteer will be unique and unforgettable memories, and the new experiences and friendships you'll gain during your assignment.
Will my work be officially recognised?
Yes, all volunteers will receive a certificate after the tournament.
Do you provide accommodation for volunteers?
No, unfortunately the Organising Committee cannot provide accommodation. However, we've learned from previous tournaments that volunteers in need of accommodation are often able to stay with friends, relatives or other volunteers.
Do I need to be available for the whole tournament?
No, although you must at the very minimum be available on matchdays at the location (host city) of your choice. Naturally, some areas of responsibility demand a much greater time commitment than others, but we'd be delighted if you can help us as often as possible.
