Marianne Miettinen, Finland coach
North Korea were the favourites for this game and we have seen from them what we were expecting. But we always stayed in the game and we had some opportunities to get a draw. We haven’t scored but I’m satisfied with the way we played. It’s a good basis for the next games, even if we’ll have to modify some things because our next opponents, Canada, are completely different. My players were very sad and disappointed after the game and I’m happy about that. It shows how motivated they were. We need wins now if we we want to qualify and I’m sure we have the quality to get them.
Hwang Yong-Bong, Korea DPR coach
I’m very happy to have won the first game; everybody know how important it is to have a good start in a tournament. However, I’m not fully satisfied with the way we played. We should have scored more goals to avoid them hoping to come back into the game. In the second half, I substituted my three attacking players because I was not sure they could keep up to the pace through the whole match. Concerning Finland, I think they're a good team that has not reached its best level yet. They should have a good future.
