Michelle French, USA coach
Brazil's confidence on the ball and the ability to be patient in possession was a big challenge for us because we had to be just as patient defensively and not become stretched. I am very proud of the players staying disciplined and sticking to the way we wanted to defend. We knew that it was vitally important to get three points and I am very happy. We did well and I am proud of the team. But we have a lot more still to improve on ahead of the China game.
Dorival Bueno, Brazil coach
It was a hard game and exactly what we were expecting. USA have a very strong team, stronger than ours. The player did what I told them to do and it was a very balanced game. But the little detail was that that the US were able to score. I told the players to mark US No10 (goalscorer Lindsey Horan) and they did it very well. But on that occasion the player was just stronger. It was a physical dispute that we have lost. But the girls did a good job.
