Qualifiers

AFC

The AFC U-17 Championship took place between 3 and 17 September 2006 in Singapore. Japan won the event with a victory over Korea DPR, while Tajikistan defeated Syria in the match for third place.

CAF

The CAF African U-17 Championship took place from 10 to 24 March 2007 in Togo. With two wins from their first two games in Group B, Ghana and eventual champions Nigeria were first to book their passage to the semi-finals and consequently the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Hosts Togo finished Group A on top, one point ahead of second-place Tunisia, who pipped South Africa in an extremely tight fight to claim the last remaining African place at Korea 2007.

UEFA

The UEFA U-17 Championship final tournament took place in Belgium from 2 to 13 May, with Spain beating England 1-0 to claim gold. The finalists will be joined in Korea by losing semi-finalists Belgium and France, along with Germany, who came from behind to beat Netherlands 3-2 in the fifth-placed playoff.

CONCACAF

Group A of CONCACAF Qualifying took place in Tegucigalpa, Honduras between 4 and 8 April and saw Haiti roar to the top of the charts. Runners-up Honduras also qualified for Korea while defending world champions Mexico sputtered out with three draws from their three matches. Group B, which will be played from 21-29 April in Kingston, Jamaica, includes Canada, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and the USA. The top three teams from Group B will join tournament debutants Haiti and Honduras at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Korea 2007.

OFC

The island paradise of Tahiti was the setting for the 2007 OFC U-17 Championship between 22 and 31 March, with one ticket to Korea up for grabs. Taking maximum points from their three outings against the hosts, Fiji and New Caledonia, New Zealand stormed into the field for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

CONMEBOL

The 2007 South American U-17 Championship took place between 4 and 25 March in Ecuador. The impressive Brazilians led the way, qualifying top with 13 points, followed by Colombia on ten, Argentina on eight and Peru on five.

Host Country

Korea Republic, as a host country, is automatically qualified.
