The Trophy Tour for the FIFA U-17 World Cup is well and truly under way in the UAE. It will cross five emirates to give the public an opportunity to see the Trophy up close and have their photo taken with it, win fabulous prizes, and buy their tickets to see their favourite teams compete in six different cities.

We spoke to members of the public at the Trophy Tour and asked them: “Why should people visit the Trophy Tour?” Here are their responses.

Mr. and Mrs. Hittmann from Dusseldorf, Germany said, “We have come to the UAE every summer for the past eight years, we’ve spent six summers in Dubai and the last two in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. We think the Trophy Tour is great for tourists. We like sports and, being German, we love football it’s great for anyone to come down and visit”.

“To buy tickets for the UAE matches and to win prizes!” Ammar Ghazi Naser and brother Essa Ghazi Naser won signed merchandise when they bought their tickets at the Trophy Tour stand. “It’s a once in a life time opportunity for the UAE as a host nation and also our friend Mohamed Al Akbari will be playing for the UAE team and we want to cheer him on”.

Tiffany Curnick from Abu Dhabi, “This is the biggest football tournament ever in the UAE so it’s awesome to support it and seeing the trophy is really exciting. The UAE is keen to promote a healthy lifestyle so it’s great to see something like this happening where you live”

This tournament will witness big names in the world of football competing for the title, and eventually only one deserving team will raise this trophy.

Sultan Al Shamsi, UAE U-17 player

Omar Mahmood from Sharjah noted “If people want to get in to the spirit of the tournament it’s a great event to come to and a good one to bring the children to as well. They see the Trophy and they know to work harder at their football practice and who knows where they will be playing in the future?”

“I’ve lived in Dubai for many years now and this tournament will be huge here.” Eduardo Attanasio from Italy said. “Italy will be playing in Ras Al Khaimah so I’ll travel to watch them hopefully come top of the group and lift this Trophy in Abu Dhabi.”

“Personally, standing here next to the trophy is very inspiring and motivating," Mohammed Salman Al Akbari, a player from the UAE team said. "I invite all football enthusiasts to this great opportunity of seeing this beautiful silverware and even take pictures next to it!” Team mate Sultan Al Shamsi shared his views saying, “This tournament will witness big names in the world of football competing for the title, and eventually only one deserving team will raise this trophy. How exciting this can be for football fans to come and stand side by side to the very cup the triumphant will take home.”
