Final draw held for 2013 UEFA U-17 Championship

The final draw for the 2013 UEFA U-17 Championship was held today at the Congress Hotel in Senec, Slovakia.

The tournament will feature eight teams. As hosts, Slovakia will be joined by the seven elite round winners: Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Russia, Ukraine, Croatia and Italy. The draw split these eight teams into two groups of four.

The draw was made by UEFA Youth and Amateur Football Committee chairman Jim Boyce and tournament ambassadors Ľubomir Moravcik and Viktor Pecovsky.

Slovakia were placed in Group A as Team 1 and they will play Austria, Switzerland and Sweden, while Group B will feature Russia, Ukraine, Croatia and Italy.

The group stage will be played between 5 to 11 May in the cities of Zilina, Dubnica nad Vahom, Nitra and Zlate Marovce, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The top three teams in each group will advance to the FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013 which will be held from 17 October to 8 November 2013.
