Uzbekistan coach Aleksey Evstafeev
There is no point in coming here if you don't display your best football. Of course this victory is important for the team - it's the first for Uzbekistan at this level, and in a World Cup. We are confident that we can enjoy a good tournament and progress to the next round. This was an important result for our nation and we hope that it brings a smile to our comrades back home.

USA coach Wilmer Cabrera
We talked to the boys about going in with a lot of concentration, knowing Uzbekistan were coming hard to play for their life, their possibility to survive in the World Cup. We spoke with them about Uzbekistan being a team that was going to play with a lot of heart and passion. The players went onto the field too relaxed, in slow motion. When we finally reacted we were down 1-0. This is a mental game. Uzbekistan were motivated and more aggressive, more into the game than our players.
