Brazil coach Emerson Avila
“It has been a huge honour for me and my whole team to take part in a competition like this one. The organisation was brilliant and the people of Mexico were great to us the whole time. We started well in the tournament, but as the games progressed we faced tougher teams and it was more difficult for us to win games. Next time we will come back having learned lessons and hopefully we can reach the final instead of the third-place game. Germany are a great team. They play very disciplined football with a lot of physical strength and a great desire to win. They had a will to win today that we did not.”

Germany coach Steffen Freund
“I congratulate Brazil on their performance because they are a very good team. We created chances through the whole game today and I am very happy with the way my team played. This is a good way to finish a tournament and I am proud of my side and their efforts over the course of this entire tournament. We rebounded well from a very difficult defeat against Mexico in the semi-finals and I have to take my hat off to my team for the way they handled themselves today. Playing at the Azteca Stadium is an enormous experience for my boys and it is something I am sure they will never forget.”
