Are there any minimum requirements?
There are some minimum requirements to be a volunteer at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Azerbaijan 2012. As a volunteer you must be 18 years of age before the tournament begins and possess good Azerbaijani language skills, as well as a basic knowledge of English.
Should I have any previous experience?
No previous experience is required. We would be delighted to hear from people who have already worked as a volunteer and wish to further their skills, but this is not essential.
What are the areas of work?
There are 13 different areas in which volunteers may be asked to work by the Local Organising Committee. A precise list and descriptions of each specific area can be found under the 'Functional Areas' heading.
How does the selection process work?
The application process begins on 15 December 2011 and runs until 12 May 2012. Short-listed applicants will then have to go through an interview process where a final selection will be made.
Are early applications given preference?
No, the timing of your application has no influence over your chances of being selected as a volunteer.
When will I know if I have been selected as a volunteer?
The recruitment process for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Azerbaijan 2012 will finish in June 2012. You will be informed before then as to whether your application has been successful.
Will volunteers receive insurance cover?
Yes, all volunteers will have limited insurance for the duration of their service.
Will the work be paid?
No, there is no payment for working as a volunteer. As a gesture of appreciation and recognition from the Local Organising Committee, you will receive the following non-monetary benefits:
The biggest reward of all will of course be the varied, unique experiences and new friendships which are guaranteed as part of the Volunteer Programme.
Will I receive a certificate for my work as a volunteer?
Yes, all volunteers will receive a certificate at the end of the tournament.
Will accommodation be provided for volunteers?
No, unfortunately accommodation cannot be provided. In previous tournaments, volunteers often find accommodation with friends, relatives or other volunteers.
Do I have to be available to work throughout the entire tournament?
No, to work as a volunteer you only need to be available on match days in the corresponding host city. Of course some functional areas require more availability than others. However, we are simply happy for you to help us as much as you can.
