The program is the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for hundreds of people from Jordan and all over the world to participate in the organisation of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 and to contribute to the biggest sporting event in the region. The key elements of the program consist of attracting volunteers, recruitment, training and management during tournament events, as well as organising the network of Volunteer Centers across its host cities.
The estimated number of needed volunteers is 1,000 dedicated and passionate individuals.
It is a special center based in each stadium and certified by the LOC of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016. These Volunteer Centers will be the base of operations for volunteers within the venue, and the location for all assembly points and pre- and post-meetings for each match.
Application forms will be available on 26 June 2016. Information on the Volunteer Program and a link to the application form can be found on FIFA.com. Please note that applying multiple times will not raise your chances of being selected as repeated applications will be deleted automatically by the system.
No, the application process for the position of Liaison Officer was separate from this current volunteer selection process. The application process for FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 volunteers will start on 26 June 2016. If you have previously applied but were not selected and would like to apply to take part in the tournament, you must reapply.
The only limit for volunteers is age. FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 volunteers should be at least 16 years of age as of 1 January 2016. The Volunteer Program is open to everyone regardless of gender, religion, disability, race or sexual orientation.
Are there any minimum requirements that volunteer candidates must possess?
There are some mandatory requirements to apply to volunteer with FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016. Successful applicants must:
· Be at least 16 years of age as of 1 January 2016
· Speak at least one of the two official languages of Jordan
· Be available to attend training sessions, work a minimum of five days per week and work all match days in the location they are assigned to
· Agree to the terms and conditions of the volunteer application form
· Be financially responsible for their own travel in their official host city and venue
· Successfully complete a criminal background check, if required
· Be passionate about the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 tournament and committed to acting as an excellent representative of Jordan
Do I need to have any previous experience?
No previous volunteer experience is required. We would be delighted to hear from people who have already worked as volunteers, are involved in their community or wish to further their skills, but this is not essential.
Do I have to be available to work throughout the entire tournament?
Volunteers are required to be available for five non-competition days and all match days at their designated venue. Additionally, some roles will require more availability than others. We will be happy for you to help us as much as you can. You will be asked to provide an estimate of how much time you will be able to commit when you complete your application.
Do I get to choose my role within the volunteering program?
Applicants may specify their top three preferred roles in their application. During the selection process, the profile of each applicant and their respective skills will be verified and assessed. It is important to understand that each vacancy requires specific level of skills and availability. We will try to place you in your preferred role, but this will not always be possible if many applicants are interested in the same role.
Will everyone who applies online be called for an interview and accepted as a volunteer?
All applications will be reviewed to ensure applicants meet the mandatory requirements. Once all applications have been collected, the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 Volunteer Management Team will begin to assign volunteers to specific roles in each functional area. While we would love to be able to offer a volunteer position to everyone who is interested in being a part of the tournament, the expected volume of applications means that this will likely be impossible.
Yes. The LOC is dedicated to making the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 Volunteer Program and its related events accessible to all. We understand that some volunteers may require specific arrangements in order to participate fully as a volunteer. You can let us know, in confidence, about your needs and how we can help during the application process and at the interview stage.
How long does a shift last while volunteering?
A typical volunteer shift will be between seven and nine hours with designated breaks.
I don’t live in any of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 official host cities. Can I still volunteer?
We welcome all applications, regardless of the location of your residence. However, please be advised that you must be available to work for set periods of time in the official host city that you choose, and that the LOC will not provide any type of financial assistance for transportation or accommodation.
Selection will consist of two phases, conducted online and face-to-face. After a filtering process, selected candidates will be invited to undergo an interview so that we may assess their analytical abilities, personal qualities and language skills. Candidates will then be selected and assigned roles based on the results of the interview.
All candidates will be treated equally during the selection process. However, candidates’ chances for successful selection may be increased if they have good command of foreign languages, previous volunteer experience or special knowledge necessary for the specific role they have applied for.
After being interviewed and selected, volunteers will be trained in the city in which they were chosen. The general course will take one to two days, with the detailed schedule depending on the assigned function.
For some roles, FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 volunteers will need basic command of English in order to successfully pass the selection test. However, the necessary level of English language skills depends on the volunteer’s function. The highest demands are in the roles of ‘Team Services’, ‘Media’ and ‘Protocol’. Nevertheless, if you do not speak English, and your role doesn’t require the language, your application will be considered.
Volunteer services will include unique volunteer uniforms and meals during shifts. However, if you do not live in a tournament host city, you will need to make your own arrangements for your transfer to the city and accommodation, if needed.
Detailed schedule of training sessions depends on your role. Typically, general volunteer training takes one to two days, meaning there will just be one journey to the training location, which will be determined at a later date. Role- and venue-specific training sessions will be organised on the sites of the tournament right before the volunteer’s first shift.
Volunteers will work in different roles and different locations during the event. Only a few will be inside the competition areas or involved in preparation for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. At the same time, even within the competition areas, volunteers will be busy with their jobs and focused on the task at hand, not on watching the competition. The only way for you to be able to truly watch the ceremonies or to take in a match is to buy a ticket for a match when you are off-duty. Please note that volunteers will not receive any special accreditation or tickets to watch the matches.
There are different functional departments for volunteers. Detailed information about tasks and work processes will be provided during training.
