Nelson Basualdo, Paraguay coach
Japan are a very good and very tough team and you could see there was a big gap between the two sides. I have told my players that this match has proved the need for them to practise hard. Along with USA, we have faced two very tough teams and had a very difficult time at this tournament. It has been a tough experience for us but it has also been an honour for us to compete at this World Cup and we will use it as an incentive to improve further.

Naoki Kusunose, Japan coach
We faced some tough circumstances during tonight's game and it wasn't always easy for the girls. I saw many mistakes from them out there. But I was pleased that they tried hard to get past the problems they were facing and to pass the ball well. If we maintain this attitude, it will be to our advantage in the upcoming matches. For the Little Nadeshiko, we feel the need to be world-class and to always solve the problems we face during games. Here in Jordan, the biggest problem and obstacle we have faced is physical. Facing Ghana, Paraguay and USA so close together, we knew it would not be easy for the players. That is why I made [six] changes [to my starting line-up].
