Joachim Low, Germany coach
We definitely had a few problems getting going in the first half. It was a big setback, going a man down and then letting in the goal straight afterwards. In the second half, my team tried everything and put in an unbelievable amount of work. We were down to 10 men but still managed to create chances and showed great character. It wasn't a dirty game, but [Miroslav] Klose probably should have been a little more cautious. We won't let our heads go down now. Our fate's still in our own hands, and the team's very determined, so I believe we'll go through.
Radomir Antic, Serbia coach
We played very well in the first half, and we set out to protect the lead after half-time. We ended up playing very defensively. We actually intended to get forward more than that, but they put us under all kinds of pressure. I'm delighted we made it to the end.
Philipp Lahm, Germany captain
We didn't start as well as we did against Australia – in fact, we were poor in the first half-hour, although we prevented them creating chances. Then there was the sending-off, which was very, very harsh, and it's always tough when you're down to ten men. But the second half showed we're still capable of creating chances even with a man less, so that's definitely a positive.
Vladimir Stojkovic, Serbia keeper and Budweiser Man of the Match
I'm overjoyed, because we desperately needed the win. I had no idea which way Podolski was going to shoot, it was just a guess, but I'm thrilled with the save. We'll focus completely on our last game now [against Australia], because it won't be easy.
Bastian Schweinsteiger, Germany midfielder
There’s anger and disappointment in the dressing room, because that's a game we should never have lost. I'm almost speechless about what's happened today.
Milan Jovanovic, Serbia goalscorer
I’m very proud about scoring this goal. It’s the most important goal of my career. A big thank you to [Milos] Krasic and [Nikola] Zigic who did very well to set me up – and a massive thank you to Stojkovic. It was incredible.
Lukas Podolski, Germany forward
I think we gave a very good account of ourselves. The sending-off was a big blow, and then I've missed a penalty. I’m normally good from the penalty spot, but the keeper guessed correctly and that was that. We'll need all our team spirit now. It's do-or-die for us in a couple of days, so we have to go out and win.
