FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 general coordinator Ulrich
Wolter officially took up his new duties at the Organising
Committee's Frankfurt headquarters on Tuesday 1 July 2008.
Wolter (34) was closely involved in operations at the 2006
FIFA World Cup™ as head of the OC satellite office in Leipzig, and
has just completed an assignment as UEFA EURO 2008 venue manager
for Salzburg. In his new role as general coordinator for the 2011
finals, he has overall responsibility for operational preparations.
"I'm really looking forward to the job of general
coordinator. Our objective as the OC, working with the German FA
(DFB) and FIFA, is to organise a fantastic World Cup which
permanently raises the profile of women's football,"
commented Wolter.
Four heads of department reporting to the general coordinator
were appointed in January 2008. Heike Ullrich is responsible for
tournament organisation, 144-time Germany international Doris
Fitschen for marketing, Winfried Nass for cities and stadiums, and
Jens Grittner for media and communications.
