Nigeria’s Super Falcons arrive in Germany

Reigning African champions Nigeria touched down in Germany on Thursday, 26 May, exactly 31 days before the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011™ kicks off.

The plane carrying the 21-strong delegation from Abuja landed at Frankfurt Airport at precisely 06:05 CET. Eucharia Uche’s team travelled to their base in Austria by bus shortly after arrival.

The Nigerian team are due to contest their opening Group A match on 26 June against France in Sinsheim at 15.00 CET. Their other first-round opponents are Germany on 30 June (20.45 CET) in Frankfurt and Canada on 5 July (20.45 CET) in Dresden.

Nigeria are one of just seven nations to have taken part in all five previous editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
