Tomorrow, 18 March 2011, will mark the milestone of 100 days to the kick-off of FIFA’s flagship women’s football competition, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011™. FIFA is celebrating the occasion by giving fans an opportunity to be part of the build-up to this summer’s hotly anticipated tournament.
From 18 March on, FIFA.com will publish a quiz allowing fans to test their knowledge of the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Every working day for 30 days a new question will be posted on www.FIFA.com/germany2011. For example: “Which country holds the record for the most consecutive appearances at a FIFA Women’s World Cup?” If you know the answer to this and 29 more questions, you could be the winner of the first prize: two tickets for the opening game in Berlin, with accommodation and travel included.
The latest FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking will also be published on 18 March, providing the final update before the World Cup kicks off in Berlin’s Olympiastadion with the opening match between hosts Germany and the recently confirmed hosts for the 2015 edition, Canada.
The tournament, which will take in nine stadiums from Berlin to Frankfurt over 22 days (26 June – 17 July), will see the best female footballers on the planet fight to be crowned world champions. This summer, Germany will be the place to be for women’s football fans and you still have 100 days to make sure you are part of it!
