Japan, New Zealand, Mexico and England were all drawn together in Group B of next year's FIFA Women's World Cup 2011™ in Germany. Hope Powell, coach of the English national team, was satisfied with how the draw panned out, and a little relieved to have avoided Groups A and C. FIFA.com brings you the reactions from Group B...
Hope Powell, England coach
I think all the groups are difficult, but to be honest I am happy we weren't drawn in Group A or Group C. Those two look very tricky indeed, so I'm quite pleased with the way the draw went. We played Japan in 2007 and Mexico at the Algarve Cup in 2005, but that was a few years ago now. We played New Zealand more recently in the Peace Cup. We're going to need to do our homework and make sure we prepare well for the tournament.
John Herdman, New Zealand coach
All the groups are difficult, as I think all the coaches would agree. We wanted to avoid Group C with the USA, and of course Germany too, so were quite fortunate in that respect. I think everyone in our group has a chance of reaching the next round. We know our opponents well. We only played England recently and against Japan last November. I don't know as much about Mexico, but they did beat the USA not so long ago. It's a dream come true to have made it to Germany 2010. It's a real football nation, steeped in history. What could be better than playing football in a country which has so much knowledge and passion for the sport?
Leonardo Cuellar, Mexico coach
It's a very difficult group for us. All the teams play at a very high level, but we're improving every day and we'll be doing our best to qualify for the next round. We still have six months to prepare for the tournament, and hopefully we can fulfil our fans' expectations. At the U-20 Women's World Cup we finished top of a group including England and Japan. Now the pressure's on the senior team to repeat that feat.
Norio Sasaki, Japan coach
We've played New Zealand and Mexico a lot recently, so we know what to expect to some extent. We know our group opponents better than most of the other teams in the tournament, so that makes our preparations somewhat easier. The players can hardly wait for the tournament to start. All I have to do is set them loose. They have an incredible will to win and they just want to get started now. I think the players are even more convinced that we can win the World Cup than I am.
