With 510 days to go until the opening match of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011, over 200,000 tickets have already been sold via 50,000 City Series packages. OC President Steffi Jones announced the encouraging figures at DFB headquarters on Monday.

"It's an outstanding number of tickets and has far exceeded our initial expectations. The huge response is a reflection of how much people are looking forward to the first FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany," said Jones.

In light of the excellent sales, the OC has decided to continue with the sale of City Series tickets beyond 31 January. The second sales phase also begins on 17 February, with group tickets the focus. The so-called twenty11 tickets will be available to all members of clubs under the DFB umbrella until 30 June. Groups consisting of 11 people will receive a 20 per cent discount. The group tickets are available in categories three and four.

All matches at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011, including the opening match at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on 26 June 2011 (which is unavailable as part of the City Series packages) will be available in the second sales phase. Also available will be group tickets for all FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup 2010 matches.

"It's very important to us to sell tickets in a targeted way. At the end of the day, the clubs are the building blocks of women's football in Germany and we want as many of our members to enjoy the atmosphere in the stadiums in 2011," added Jones.
