Kyah Simon, Australia forward and Player of the Match
We knew it was a crucial game, and although a draw was enough for us, we always go out to win. We really went for it today. Finishing the group stage with a victory will give us a real confidence boost ahead of the next round. I want to enjoy and experience to the full every single moment of this World Cup. Reaching the quarter-finals is becoming a bit of a nice habit for this team. Our next game will definitely be hard, but we’re well prepared for it.
Eli Landsem, Norway coach
We had laid out a plan for this match, and while I thought we played pretty well, the result didn’t go our way. The feeling of disappointment is indescribable. We had hopes of going further, but now we need to head home, and focus on training better and working harder. We’ll be back, and we’ll be a stronger team on our return.
Tom Sermanni, Australia coach
It was a really tough match. Norway made it very hard for us, and we had to fight to get a result. I’m so proud of my players, especially when they responded so quickly to going a goal down. The key moment of the game was when we scored almost immediately after falling behind – it brought us right back into it at a critical time. When I saw the Norwegians hit the woodwork, I suspected that it was going to be our day.
