Interesting stat is that although Australia won 2 games they were equal bottom team for goals against at 7. Although they played one extra game were still even with Colombia after 3 games equal at 4 goals conceded. This stat summarises why Australia didn't make it any further than the quarter finals. If you look at all the top teams they are able to keep clean sheets in at least one game. Look at Spain winning the mens world cup they consistantly kept clean sheets. If Australia build a solid defense then we will challenge the great teams in 2015.

Austalia's defense was inconsistant all through the tournament, we cannot keep giving teams 2-3 goals in a match and expect to win. Austalia are still a young team and have to be a great chance at making it to 2015 with many of these players who will still be in their mid 20's in 4 years. Another concern is 17 of 21 players in the squad come from either Brisbane, Sydney or Canberra which I believe is a concern especially for the national competition if it wishes to move forward.Strong competitions make great national teams.
