Kim Kyong-Hwa scored from a corner and captain Ri Kum-Suk headed home from another as Korea DPR beat Nigeria 2-0 to go to the top of Group B, level with the USA on four points with one game to go.

The Koreans first showed their proficiency from set-pieces in the 17th minute, when Kim's fiercely struck corner looped up and over Nigerian goalkeeper Precious Dede and directly in off the back post for a rare 'Olympic Goal'. Just four minutes later, captain Ri headed through a scrum of Nigeria defenders to make it 2-0.

With Nigeria struggling to keep up with their adversaries, the East Asians could have run the score up in the second half but unfortunately for them and their many fans in Chengdu, they could only manage a shot off the crossbar from Yun Song-Mi.

The Koreans will next take on Sweden in Tianjin on 18 September, while Nigeria's last group game is in Shanghai against USA.
