It was the perfect performance. England are a difficult team to defeat. They are very good defensively but I encouraged my players to go after the first goal, which is always crucial. Once we got it we were in control. I thought everyone played well. Kristine Lilly is the spirit of this team and she showed this today.

We are very disappointed. Saying that, I don't think we played badly. Our rivals are two-time world champions and it was their experience that took them to the semi-finals against us. We've still got a lot to improve on but we'll be back.

I thought today was one of our best games of the tournament. We played some good soccer and now we want to go on and win this. We're confident we can do it and a performance like this only adds to this confidence. I'm just waiting to see who we'll play and I'll look forward to it.

We were disappointed obviously but can't put into words what we feel right now. The girls fought hard but were up against a strong US team, which we expected. You have to stay switched on for 90 minutes against them. We knew they were dangerous from set-pieces and when one goes in you have to keep your momentum in the game. Unfortunately we were unable to do that.
