Bjarne Berntsen, Norway coach
It was a very tough match. China changed their way
of playing, playing one up front for the first time this
tournament, and that showed a great deal of respect for us. Marika
(Domanski-Lyfors) knows us very well and she knows the best way to
stop our play. The game was very tight and we only won because
their defender made a mistake and our striker was extremely quick
to react. A lot of big games are won and lost like that.
Marika Domanski-Lyfors, China coach
I'm very sad for the girls. They did what they
could and played a very good game. Norway had one shot but
unfortunately that was the goal. We weren't able to score and
that is why we are not in the semi-finals. We played a very
tactical and very technical match, sometimes outplaying Norway, and
that's very good because they are undoubtedly one of the best
teams in the world. There is no doubt about which team was the best
tonight. But credit to Norway. I think they are a very good team
who are excellent in taking opportunities and they have some very
good players. I wish them good luck.
Ane Stangeland Horpestad, Norway defender
It was a tough and hard game and amazing to play in
front of such a huge crowd. But we were prepared for that and
I'm very glad that we were strong enough to win.
Zhang Tong, China midfielder
I cannot explain why we lost tonight but I must
thank everyone for their support. Tonight, the fans were the real
stars.
