Greg Ryan, USA coach
I want to saw how proud I am of my players and how
impressed I was with how they dealt with the difficulties we have
had this week. They united, supported each other and pulled
together. I've felt that, from the start of the tournament,
we've been playing from behind the eight ball because we
started off with such a tough group, and that made it very
difficult for them to relax. Today, I think you saw the players
completely relax and play some great, entertaining soccer, playing
with confidence in themselves and their team-mates.
Bjarne Berntsen, Norway coach
I think that this match showed us the difference
between the fitness and strength levels of the two teams. It has
been a long tournament and it was obvious that USA were physically
a lot stronger than us. What's clear is that we have a lot of
work to do with our physical level to make sure we're still
competing at the end of tournaments. We can play some great
football at times but today the defending in our box was very poor,
particularly at the start of the second half, and that effectively
decided the game.
Lori Chalupny, USA midfielder
I'm so proud to be a part of this team. I think
we showed a lot of character today because we were facing some
adversity after going out in the semi-finals. We were playing our
hearts out and smiling out there today. We just let go and it was
so much fun.
Ragnhild Gulbrandsen, Norway striker
Having scored six goals but ended up in fourth
place leaves me proud and disappointed at the same time. I think
the differences was that our skill on ball was simply not as good
as the USA's and Germany's.
