Saturday's Opening Ceremony of the FIFA World Youth Championship will be a colourful pageant illustrating the culture of various States of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The show begins at 14.30 with performances by cultural troupes from throughout the country. Then follows a gymnastics display and a march past representatives of the 24 teams competing in the Championship
At the end of the hour-long ceremony, there will be brief speeches from the Local Organising Committee Executive Chairman, Abdulmumini Aminu, and the FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, after which the Nigerian Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, will officially declare the Championship open.
The Nigerian and Costa Rican teams will be greeted on the pitch before kick-off by the Head of State and the FIFA President.
The match kicks off at 16.00.
