Samson Siasia, Nigeria coach
"Venezuela had a lot of chances in the first half, and when you give away so many you're bound to concede a goal. In fact we were lucky it was only one. We improved in the second half but it wasn't enough. We didn't stick to our gameplan, but the first game is always difficult. There's a long way to go and we'll sit down, watch the match again and see what things we need to change for the Spain game."
Cesar Farias, Venezuela coach
"It was just as hard as we thought it was going to be. To get a good result I knew we had to be disciplined and we were. We've taken a huge stride towards the next round but we can't rest on our laurels or lose sight of our objective. We have to be focused on qualifying. We stuck to our task and followed our dreams, though, and we've sent a clear message to the rest of the world: Venezuelan football wants to cross new frontiers and keep on growing."
