The strategic phase required to lay the groundwork for the Volunteer Programme of the FIFA U-20 World Cup Colombia has been brought to a conclusion, thanks to the involvement of the Local Organising Committee’s National Director for Volunteering, William Rodriguez, and the respective coordinators from the tournament’s eight host cities.
The Volunteer Programme, which forms part of the FIFA U-20 World Cup’s marketing strategy, is a key ingredient in hosting the competition and will feature the active involvement of nearly 2,000 people spanning the cities of Armenia, Manizales, Cartagena, Pereira, Barranquilla, Cali, Medellin and Bogota.
These individuals, in many ways the public face of the tournament, will be divided into various categories, according to the requirements laid down by FIFA. Among the areas where they are set to contribute are Accreditation, Corporate Events, Information Technology, Public Relations, Press and Communications, Logistics, Marketing, General Services, Transport, Tournament Organisation, Accommodation and Tourism.
The operational phase, which will begin on 20 March, will comprise various stages, including the inscription, evaluation, selection and training of the volunteers selected for this crucial collaboration and development program. Colombia 2011 will run from 29 July to 20 August.
