Ivan Grnja, Croatia coach
"It's difficult to say what the reason was behind the defeat. Things didn't go they way we wanted and at the end the victory went to Guatemala. We missed some players like Pamic and Kramaric while our captain was deeply injured. These factors played an important role for us and we couldn't score goals to win. This game was decisive to maintain our chances to remain in Colombia. We had opportunities to score, but we couldn't score the chances that we had from the beginning of the match. We should recognize that Guatemala played very organized and they knew how to create chances and our defenders couldn't stop them. I believe that Guatemala deserved to win. It's hard that we are leaving since had high expectations and I'm sorry for the people in Armenia who probably had high expectations from us."
Ever Almeida, Guatemala coach
"I'm happy and so are all the players. We came here to learn and in the first two matches it was hard for us. We played today like we did before and we proved that we can still play with the style that the Guatemalan people know back at home. This is my third miracle after leading EL Nacional to win Ecuador League and then leading this team to the World Cup. The team took a lot of shame in the first two games, but we did a lot of psychological work. We were organized, we pushed forward and created chances. We completely deserve this result. We had some doubt regarding our goalkeeper before the game as the Croatians are really tall. However, it was a good call and he had an excellent performance. We want to enjoy everything tonight and tomorrow we will see what we have to do."
