Jan, Versleijen, Australia coach: “I think a draw was a fair result. If you look at the chances we had in the first half, I don't think we should have been losing. Even when things weren't going our way, we never gave up. It's our way. It's always difficult to play the first game in a World Cup. Once you've got that out the way and you've got a good result, you can improve. I think coming back from that will see us enter our next game full of confidence.”

Julio Rosero, Ecuador assistant coach: “We had it in our grasp but it fell away from us. We were so close, so we're obviously unhappy. There were a lot of opportunities to score a second goal, but we didn't manage to do it. But this is a long process, the players are developing. We have a squad and we have to work together to improve, to put right our mistakes. Still, some of our passages of play we can take encouragement from.”
